We’ve had this set for about a year and a half now and we really enjoy it. My only real regret is not getting a bigger screen, but my wife didn’t want a set too large for our smallish living room. However, she was pleasantly surprised at how nice this “piano black” Samsung looked there and we both just love watching TV on it, expecially in HD. Even the remote looks and feels stylish.
My one criticism is with the 2 zoom modes. “Zoom 1″ should back off just a little…it cuts off a little more than it needs to to optimize a wide-screen standard def picture. “Zoom 2″ is completely useless.
BTW, as far as I can tell this set does not do 1080i, just 720p. This has not been an issue thus far, as all HD programming we get is 720p, but there will be a BluRay player in its future, which does 1080p and it would be nice to know we’re getting the highest res picture there is…but again, this matters less on a smaller TV like this.
For the 8 feet average distance from our couch to the set, I think a 42 inch would be perfect, so I’ve started poking around at the latest Sharp Aquos 42″, and for not much more than the 0 or so we paid for this, you get a 10 inch bigger screen, 1080p, twice as fast response time and slightly better contrast ratio in a fairly compact package. This would bump the Sharp into a smaller room in the house which would work better for a 32″.
